Base

The seat of energy, the base center is the source of our physical strength and vitality. This chakra is located at the base of the spine. From it we draw the energy of the earth. The base chakra is a powerhouse which provides the cosmic energy to drive the other psychic centers.

Sacral

The sacral center refines and filters the cosmic energy coming from the base center. It has a healing function and links the astral (or etheric) body with the physical. This center is the auric gate to out of body travel (astral projection)

Solar Plexus

Located just below the rib cage is a network of nerves called the solar plexus. This chakra is a sensitive center that responds emotionally to impressions. It is used in psychometry to define the emotional nature of the information received.

Heart

The highest of the emotional centers, the heart chakra is located in the center of the chest. It has control of the three centers below it and converts instinct into feeling. Compassion, tolerance and sympathy are all governed by the heart chakra. In psychic work in senses the love and presence of spirit people. Its energy provides the impetus to spiritual development.

Throat

This center is the first of the three spiritual centers and is the chakra for creative abilities and verbal communication in this life and the next. For psychic work it is the source of your own inner voice of intuition.

Forehead

This chakra is commonly known as the third eye or brow as is located in the center of the forehead. It is the seat for clairvoyance and is where we see pictures and imagery relating to the sitter and our own lives. It is closely interlinked with the throat and crown center. Self-confident and disciplined development of this center results in visions and revelations that step beyond the realms of the imagination.

Crown

Although associated with the color violet, this center, known in the East as the "thousand-petalled lotus, is in fact a mixture of many brilliant colors like the feathers of a peacock. It represents our link with the infinite, the crown center floods the aura with energy, wisdom and spiritual insight. It is through this center that the soul leaves the physical body to take its place in the beyond. The crown center is the most spiritual of all the chakras.
