Garden Meditation

- Relax your whole body from head to toe (see the relaxation page if you need some help with this)

-When you are ready start to build a picture up of your ideal garden, not one that you know in real life but one that comes from inside you. This garden is surrounded my some kind of walling a fence or hedge maybe.

-Really imagine yourself there, feel the ground beneath your feet the gentle breeze on your face and the gentle heat of the sun on your face.

-What is the weather like? Is it hot? Sunny? Cloudy?

-What time of year is it? Are the plants still growing? Are there leaves on the trees?

-Look around you and take note of wheather it is a small or large garden. Wheather it is on good condition or if its in need of attention.

-Know that this is your inner garden. It is an inner space where you can go in your meditations at any time, feel safe here.It is a place where know one may go unless you want them to enter. In this place you can resolve any problems in your life. It is a place for private contemplation.

-Really begin to explore your garden. What plants, treees and shrubs are there? What flowers can you discover? Respond to their beauty. Touch them. Feel them.

-Are there any birds or animals in your garden? They are your friends and will not be scared of you.

-Now, take some time to look around your garden explore and remember everything so that you might return some day.

-Now, try and find one place in your garden that has a special atmosphere for you. A place which you feel drawn to and that can become your favourite place in the garden.

-What is it that darws you to this particular place? What do you experience there?

-While you are in this place umagine that a friendly bird or animal comes to see with you and talk to you. Except whatever comes to you first.

-What does this creature wish to say to you? Listen to it.

-Imagine that you are presented with a gift from this animal. Something that can take with you and use in your everday life. Accepst whatever occurs to you first. Perhaps the animal will explain the prupose of this gift?

-When you are ready let the bird or animal dissapear and contemplate for a moment what has just happened.

-Spend some more time enjoying your garden.

-Start to breathe slightly more deeply and become aware of your surroudings, the place in which you are meditating.

-Stay comepletely relaxed and open your eyes.

-Know that you can return to your inner garden at any time you wish.
